The open casket and picture don’t bother me so much as the fact that they kept it secret for so long. I mean if you’re going to visit that kind of indignity on a person you’d hope that there would be some educational purpose or value to the whole fucked up operation.

That went against Soviet state policy, which stated “Any screw-up didn’t happen, any person responsible/involved in said screw-up never existed, and Soviet supremacy is always assured.” Remember, this is the state that gave us the floating nuclear accident.
