Proud, maybe…but sorry to say he has had money problems for decades. The fact his house in Hawaii has been in danger of foreclosure means he is touring harder in his late 60s than he was in his 30s & 40s.

He sold his points in Bat Out of Hell to buy his pad in Hawaii, and he had to sell much of his publishing in the 80s to settle a tax bill. That means whenever you hear “Hello It’s Me” selling Tums or “Bang The Drum” selling cruises, he is making next to no money. It’s really sad, especially for his kids.

You know, I’ve thought about this before. Most acts get 1099’d with their payments for tours (corrrect?) Then they have to be the responsible party to pay the appropriate STATE and fed taxes.

They seem to always fail at this.
