Oh…and since CD rates absolutely suck right now, here’s a financial insturment that combines the potential gains of currency exchange with the security of an FDIC backed investment vehicle.

Interest rates for much of them still suck, but you could still come out ahead with a favorable exchange rate.

I’m slowly building my cash reserves back up. In a couple of years, inflation is going to be a problem, and the Fed will certainly respond by raising interest rates. If I can lock in long-term CDs in the high single digits, I’m there.

If I can lock them in at the mid- to high-teen levels seen during the Carter years, I’m so there. In fact, it’ll probably be time to consider retirement.
