The donations have been going on for a long time. There’s an entrenched bureaucratic mechanism behind it that will require lots of political wrangling to change.

I’m not saying I don’t think he should cut off this aid; actually I think the aid should never have been started in the first place. But all presidents have to deal with political realities.

Canada shifted from funding the PA or UNRWA directly to funding specific projects to help build infrastructure/the PA judicial system.

Of course, Canada gives much less than the US, but it would be nice if the US implemented measures for greater transparency of exactly where that money was going.
