It is, of course, impossible that the family in question might have cooked up a scheme to get their 15 minutes of Balloon Boy fame. It certainly couldn’t have been one of them who called Fox first, and then the cops. No-sir-ree-bob.

Obviously, I have no idea whether that’s what happened. At this point, I’m sick of the whole thing. I’ve lost 80% of my lulzy respect for Weiner, not so much because of what he did, but rather because he was apparently so intensely stupid as to fail to realize that the internet does not forgive, and does not forget.
