That’s stupid, the comic is.

We didn’t have to go to a judge before shooting in the Civil War. And if you do direct violence against the US or an ally’s government (or aid in destabilizing a region), or are indirectly aiding such an endeavor in a crucial way, your ass get’s Hellfired.

The people we are assassinating are violating other’s human rights. Stop them.

During the Civil War though, there was no international law to follow. Al-Awlaki, loathsome as he was, was not killed on a hot battlefield or warzone, and didn’t pose an imminent threat to U.S. or allied forces at the time of his killing.
