Gerrymandering is one of the biggest problems we have in U.S. politics. The big issue to change it, most people don’t understand how it works and how it got as screwed up as it has.

People talk about all kinds of amendments to the constitution that are needed. I don’t know if fair congressional districts needs an amendment, but it sure would be nice if we could at the least get some Federal Courts to say it is horribly out of balance and decree that it needs to be fixed to be more fair and force congress to draw up better ways to get fair districts.

It needs to be based on voter registrations and voter activity (turn out) and be automatic so that it changes along with the people in the area.

Congress has nothing to do with it. Design of legislative districts is in control of the individual state legislatures.
