I do love the narrative how Manafort really wasn’t that involved with Trump. Really? He’s known him for years. Trump hired him to be his campaign manager. I’d say that’s the equivalent. Oh my best man? He knows other people too but he’s really not that close to me.

Manafort also apparently got the Bannon treatment in that after he left the campaign, Trump would (allegedly) still call him to talk about the campaign and strategy. Remember, this is after he was forced to resign because a story broke that he’d been taking money from Russian oligarchs - and bullshit aside, had that story not come to light, Manafort would have probably been the campaign chairman until election day.
