Romney: Don't Wish for Obama to Fail

re: #189 J.S.

I think this should be looked at from what the opposition would say, should, for example, Obama’s economic policies fail…Let’s say his bailouts don’t work — have families bankrupted, companies going broke, people unemployed, inflation taking off, etc., then what? the opponents of Republicans will then turn about and ask, “Well, aren’t you happy now? isn’t this what you wanted?” Conversely, if Obama’s policies succeed, the economy recovers, people find jobs, housing market improves, then the opponents will ask, “Well, are you unhappy now? is success painful for you to witness?” (This whole strategy of wishing failure for Obama’s plans spells political disaster — it’s a no win situation. And it’s playing right into the opposition’s hands. Wishing for failure sounds like being spiteful — cutting off your nose to spite your face. And how can “failure” not effect you, too? “Failure” can’t be cordoned off so that just Obama suffers — everyone will suffer…)

You’re buying into the left’s framing of the question.

This is NOT about the country or economy or individual citizens failing!

It’s about Obama failing to implement policies that will likely make the problems you mention worse.
