Okay, one last rant, related to nothing else on the thread:

Why is Jan 1 a holiday and Dec 31 is not? Most of the partying goes down tonight. As near as I can tell, the only two traditional activities of Jan 1, other than trying to make it home safe, are looking for the aspirin and resolving to lose weight.

I propose they split the holiday. From 4 pm on Dec 31 to 4 pm on Jan 1 is a holiday.
