I mentioned RedState not because I was assuming your neighbors read it, but because I was assuming (reasonably IMO) that the only media RedStaters looked to for assistance in forming their opinion is precisely the sanitized version of Trump you refer to above.

A nontrivial fraction of these RedStaters were not fooled by this sanitized image of Trump.

Therefore the power of this sanitized image of Trump is not absolute, even among hard core right wing nut jobs.
