That would be me. Both sides of my family have been in what is now Texas since the early 1700’s and in Mexico long before that. I’m not the only one, either. Lots of Mexican families are the same way. Roots run deep, and they extend far beyond just the United States.

It’s really common. For an American to complain about Spanish being spoken in that region of the country is just so mindbogglingly ignorant I don’t even know the word for it.
