Sandy Hook was rightly seen by the NRA as potentially damaging to their Gospel of The Gun and they were going to welcome and promote anything to counter that, even if it meant fanciful and contrived conspiracy theories.

Right and for 25 year old me, it revealed there was no bottom for this crap. Children. Only a year older than my niece is targeted by an asshole and Jones and the NRA spread conspiracies and began it being acceptable to harass survivors and their loved ones. Jones alone deserves to rot for that. I remember Va Tech. I was in college and indeed had friends and family who were there but VA Tech as with Columbine before saddened the entire nation. Sandy Hook was something different.
