I think it’s somewhat mildly crass to pass out religious literature in what is supposed to be a secular body. I don’t want to outlaw the practice, but I do feel that a legislative body passing out one religious work is an endorsement of that religious work above others. If Kay goes there and passes out whatever religious literature she wants to, it does not have the same effect as the legislature itself passing out that religious literature.

As you say, if they’re Christian, they already have the bible. So what is the point of passing it out?

I said I thought it was silly, for just that reason.

I wouldn’t have made such a leap if Kay had made the point that passing out religious or religious-themed materials in general is not a good idea. And I think it is NOT a good idea.

That’s not the point she made.
