True, but Norway, who isn’t having issues, is at a very low level of readiness if something were to come up unexpectedly. They put their all into Libya.

Denmark and the UK are in the same boat.

I know France can go a few more rounds, along us, Canada, and Sweden.

I’m not sure about the other aggressor nations though, like Spain, Italy, Greece, Belgium.

If Turkey ended up dealing with a Genghis Gambit from Syria, NATO would be in major trouble.

I’m not clear on this…but if you’re saying that Syria could give Turkey a lot of trouble if it came to war, I’d have to disagree. Turkey rates to be worlds better at war than Syria. In Syria, the officer corps will have been chosen mainly for loyalty. And even at that, its loyalty turns out to be flexible. Good thing, but there it is.

In Turkey, the military is more nearly professional.

Turkey, but not Syria, has served a period of German tutelage.

Turkey, but not Syria, is a NATO member, and has learned something about war, judging from the result of her Cyprus invasion.

Turkey can’t lose because a long stretch of mountainous terrain separates her Syrian border from her vitals. Syria…you get the picture.

And if Turkey needed any help, NATO could provide, without any real difficulty, air superiority fighter assistance that would quickly sweep the Syrian air force from the skies, leaving the Turks, and only the Turks, with tactical air support.

Your term “aggressor nations” is rather loaded. The government of Libya has no complaint with Sweden, France, etc. The people of Libya have no complaint. What nation, and what people, have been wronged? And if you will answer, Gaddafi, I will say, he is not, himself, a nation.
