re: #218 TarHellion
OK, folks, time to face reality.
The Tara Reade accusation isnāt going away. The WaPo has it in a sidebar on the main page, primarily due to a Business Insider post involving individuals who endorse Readeās account.
As a 30-year former journalist, it is to the point where I would reasonably be asking Biden to make a full statement (if not an unfettered interview) regarding the contention. To be sure, there are numerous, proper questions regarding Readeās allegation and the timing.
But Biden should recognize he has to to counter doubt to his character. Silence - or even the appearance of obfuscation - can be quite deadly..
Fair notice: I philosophically supported Warren at the outset. But I always believed Biden would win out when the contest became between just one, true Democrat.
So letās put this crap to rest until it becomes a major issue (which it will) in the summer or fall. And if there is any chance this crap is true (despite a full VP vetting, not to mention his time in the Senate), I would deservedly be disappointed.
His campaignās given the only answer that there needs to be: āHe denies it, we deny it, but let the media do their own investigation and reach their own conclusions.ā So far, the media outlets that have looked into it have come away admitting that her credibility is totally lacking and she has no answers only excuses.
And really, thatās whatās frustrating the hell out of them: Heās not playing to script. Heās not rushing the cameras to give a big televised denial, heās not attacking her or anybody connected to her, heās not making a big fuss about the mediaās attention to the story, heās simply telling them to do their jobs and itās driving them batty.
