What rule am I missing here?

The “Rule” that Creation goes like Genesis lays it out.
I’m talking ID/Creationist/6000 year old earth rule.

Well, there’s that.

The book of Genesis is not a biology textbook. God, I suspect, is quite bright. Giving a bunch of tribal nomads a detailed explanation of the biochemical origins of life would have been about as useful as giving a four-year-old a detailed explanation of human reproduction, complete with cell-division illustrations. The four-year-old gets “When a Mommy and a Daddy love each other and want to have a baby…”, and we get “I created you in my image out of the earth.”

No one is being lied to, above, we’re both getting the most important truth. And both we and the four-year-old grow, and learn, and understand more as time goes on.
