I might get away with it, but she’s got a night shift. And she works for AMC, whose rules are that unless you can get your shift covered, then the only valid excuse for not showing up to work is a sudden medical emergency. And even then, you’re expected to show up the next time you can work with a doctor’s note. Even for family emergencies, you’ve got to be able to find somebody to cover your shift.

Yeah, there’s a potential Cat-3 hurricane baring down on this city, and corporate expects that theater to stay open, barring power loss or mandatory evacuation. If you can make it to work, you’re expected to be there.
