But this is the problem in the US that isn’t even political: enough people do not like looking at systems, and a math breakdown of pandemics is systemic analysis, so they shut it out.
They might worry about the injustice of whether they’ll get a bed, or someone they care about get a bed, but can’t acknowledge the relationship between the systemic failure—bed count—and the individual crisis, because they believe themselves to be the exception, the deserving party.
