My niece is off to college. When she was about 14 I gave her a portable hard drive with all of the Simpson episodes ripped to it and she loved it. I required her to paint a Simpsons scene on the HDD casing if she wanted to keep it and she did. Well the HDD took a shit recently and I got wind she’s lonely in her new dorm setting. So I got her a USB stick and put the episodes on there for her. Putting together a box with a bunch of stuff for her.

Any suggestions what to get the WOW, nerdy type woman fresh off to college?

Advice. Get out of the dorm room. Join a club or something, and meet people.

Then, if she’s already equipped with a tablet or laptop, suggest she download Evernote for keeping notes and stuff organized across her machines. She’ll want a digital camera, even if her cellphone has one. Get her an Amazon giftcard so she can download ebooks, or better yet, buy her a Kindle to go with the giftcard. A digital picture frame for her desk. Slippers. Cozy bathrobe. A small Thermos for carrying around coffee to morning classes.

That’s a start.
