It’s frustrating because while I’m not as economic lefty as you and Joe are, I’m sympathetic but the Bernie cult really bothers me for both the cult of personality and often sexism that exists within it. They’re happy AOC and Omar endorsed Sanders no doubt but I know what would be said if either endorsed Warren.

Thing is, on a purely economic standpoint, I’m probably much closer to Sanders than any other candidate. I just have issue with 1) the fact that they’re willing to take such a ‘burn it down’ approach to getting what they want, and 2) the attempt to distill everything down into pure economics while shitting on the very concept of whatever they consider ‘identity politics’. I would love to bring about some kind of leftytopia, but I also know enough that there’s no way to do that within a generation, much less an election cycle, that either won’t result in scorched earth or vast swaths of minorities left brushed aside and ignored.

I at the very least trust AOC, Omar, and others to not shit the bed and refuse to endorse the eventual candidate, but I can’t help but feel like so many others will be wholly content to ratfuck us on the off chance that they can build from the ashes of what’s left after Trump.
