Yeah but calls for this “season”, year, cycle is worse than any other, happen every cycle. Look at elections from the 1800’s. The rhetoric in some papers is ghastly. Each year there are calls for civilizing the discourse, but each generation does it the same way with just new ways to insult or bring down the opposition. It’s what happens in a thriving democracy when people have the freedom to say whatever they want and usually will.
