Catholics, including Latino Catholics, are certainly socially conservative, but their sense of “family values” is a bit different that what modern Conservatism tries to sell us: they want strong communities, good schools and effective government institutions to promote and protect them.

Modern conservative “family values” just means banning gay marriage and abortion, privatizing schools and cutting taxes and government to a bare-bones minimum.
