Doubt it. ‘Several decades’ is only a couple generations. The Bedouin do have some recurrent genetic problems due to inbreeding, since they strongly favor first-cousin marriages for social reasons, and the problem crops up elsewhere in the Arab world, but that’s a much longer-term problem.
Pretty sure this is nurture, not nature. Most of these folks would be fine if they could get some fresh air and a good night’s sleep, and a few years of deprogramming. Look at the Druze.
I worked with a guy from Lebanon who was a druze. I had never heard the term before and I thought they said “druid.” I remember thinking, I didn’t know there were any druids in the middle east.
