If you transfer branches you can keep the medals earned in your former service, you just have to put them in the right order on your dress uniform. I believe they go below all medals awarded in your current branch.

Interservice medals, especially Medal of Honor, Silver Star, and Bronze Star would stay 1,2,3 on the uniform….

But it’s been so long since I had to know that stuff.
