re: #227 negativ

I was born in the early 70s. I feel like I got kinda lucky with my TV exposure. Both of my parents worked, so when I wasn’t in school I spent a lot of time with my grandmother.

Here are some of the shows, then-current or re-runs, she religiously watched. That pretty much meant I also religiously watched them. Keep in mind she was born in 1904.

The Addams Family
Gilligan’s Island
The Jeffersons
Sanford & Son
Dragnet
Get Smart
Adam 12
Grizzly Adams
The Twilight Zone
The Muppet Show (yes, my grandmother watched The Muppet Show)

Of course, I also watched cartoons. But I was lucky enough to be able to see GOOD cartoons. Warner Brothers, Tex Avery, Fleischer Studios. Stuff from the 1930s and 1940s, with absolutely beautiful animation (done the HARD WAY), wonderful voice acting, amazing musical scoring (thank you Carl Stalling). See any of the Warner Brothers cartoons from the WWII period for a taste. Aside from those classics, the only other one that got me really excited was Scooby Doo. The important thing is that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time.

Now get the fuck off my lawn.

Go yell at a cloud.
