Chinese companies will ignore both copyrights and trademarks as necessary. In my local mall, there is “Niu Ba Lan” sports shoe shop. The shoes have an “N” symbol on them which looks remarkably like a more famous sports shoe logo. There is also a pizza shop which uses the Pizza Hut logo, but which is not a Pizza Hut (Bi Sheng Ke) restaurant.

Heh.

I have a “Marina Militare” power reserve wristwatch - it’s obviously a copy of an Officine Panerai.

In any event, it does keep extraordinarily good time. I know a watchmaker here in town and after I got it, I took it to him to have the movement lubricated and have him generally check it out.

He said it was a very good, 21-jewel automatic movement, that it was well-engineered and was quite obviously a Chinese copy of the Valjoux 7750-P1 movement, and that as far as copies go, it was virtually identical to the original, suffering only from what he called a couple of “components that had minor cosmetic flaws, but nothing that would interfere with the operation of the watch”.

He ordered one for himself, LOL.
