For “white” it asked where you were from. I put “none of your business.” My brother put “American”. I still like mine better.
On my grandfathers’ World War I draft deferment applications, my Dad’s dad (who died in the 1918 pandemic) put “white” as his race. He was a Russian Jew.
My Mom’s dad put “American” as his race. He was born in Detroit, but his parents were born in Russia.
