I maintain my position though. I have no idea whether he meant it in a racist sense or not but we need to be able to criticize our politicians on equal terms. Giving someone special dispensation because something might be taken the wrong way, gives them power outside the norms of democracy.

Who’s getting special dispensation? I feel that UNIFORMLY, politicians should not talk about sending their opponents ‘back’ to their land of ancestral origin.
