Eddie Van Halen was #80 on the last list like this I saw at Rolling Stone.

although, for money jimi hendrix belongs at the top of any list of guitarists, and bb king near the top, the list leaves out some of the greatest guitarists of the twentieth century, such as django reinhardt, robert johnson, charlie christian, and mahavishnu john maclaughlin. i would also include good old jerry garcia, who by the way was a big fan of the argentinian guitarist oscar aleman
