I’ve seen it show up in quotes of LGF comments, though, generally where there is an em-dash or apostrophe followed by a letter in the original post.
It converts to a kanji character when quoted.
Ah yes - that would happen because you’d have the 4-digit Unicode for the em-dash followed immediately by a letter that looks like a 5th hex digit (a-f), and the browser displays it as a 5-digit Unicode character, in that case a Chinese character.
Hmm. Not sure how that can be fixed and still allow real 5-digit Unicode.
