Now that the Egypt Air cockpit voice recorder has been recovered, news reports state that the aircrew fought to put out the fires in the avionics bay and lavatory. In other words, not terrorism.

Someone going to tell Donald Trump that, since he declared right away it was “radical Islamic terrorism?” (tm) Okay media, do your jobs. (who am I kidding, they need a horse race: Edward R Murrow is long dead.)

Terrorism still can’t be ruled out because it is possible that the fire was started due to sabotage or explosive device that didn’t necessarily cause a hull breach and loss of air pressure in the cabin.

But it is a greater likelihood of a malfunction in the avionics/electronics. One suspect source: Li Ion batteries (the same issue that grounded the 787 fleet for months as Boeing redesigned those components).
