Hmmm… tough question. I for one don’t think I would go for “personhood” for cetaceans. However, I do question the slaughtering of such animals. When I lived in Japan I would see whale meat for sale at my local store… in with all the fish. (Of course, it should be over in the pork section, but to the Japanese if something has fins it’s seafood.)

I’d rather see a “protected animal” status, internationally agreed, that would protect the great apes and the cetaceans.
