It’s a “monumental leap” to accept the scientific evidence for evolution, but believing in a magical garden at the beginning of time, with an apple tree and an evil snake in it — no problem.

They accepted the snake when they were three years old, and have believed it since. Now we want them to discard all that deep-seated “knowledge” for something completely different that’s way above their ability to understand themselves, so they would also have to accept on faith.

It’s a really bad situation, and I’m not smart enough to know how to educate them out of their absurd worldview.
