Your state paper’s editors are probably lying to themselves. There is little that is said about politics which can hold up under the torch of a good bit of research.

What I perceived in that debate is that the people of South Carolina want to feel good about themselves. The questions were selected and framed so the two “debaters” could tell their fellow South Carolinians about how good South Carolina is and all the people in it are wonderful.

This is not uncommon.

It is de rigueur for American politics today.

I noticed how Bakari didn’t try to challenge the Gospel of Ronnie religion though the well worn claims are false.

I noticed that when it came to the local health facilities closing, which Bakari wants to maintain open, that the meme was “jobs” rather than simply that people in those areas need health care. Bakari seemed to go along with the “jobs” as the ultimate meaning of humanity meme. Such manicured talking points are rarely challenged, even though they are opposite to what we need.
