re: #234 Dark_Falcon

If he were to quiet down his listeners would go elsewhere for their rage-fix. So he’ll keep on DERPing and hope the storm blows over. He’s painted himself into such a corner that he has few other options.

His best option, though, is one he will not take, for it would involve humility and humiliation. He could invite a more religious guest on and before the guest came on offer a sincere-seeming apology. Then have the guest come on and clearly state why Rush was wrong within the Christian tradition. After that the guest would suggest some acts of contrition for Rush to perform, and Rush would need to perform them. This would likely involve at least a personal, written apology to Sandra Fluke.

Rush’s fans blew a collective gasket when he gave his “apology,” even though they’ve since used it to claim that he’s “better” than Bill Maher. For him to do as you suggest would be to admit that his initial “apology” was either A) not an apology or B) insufficient. Neither would be accepted and likely to draw him even more ire from the fans.

Really, at this point, Rush’s choices are to either keep doubling down and hope that people just get tired of the whole issue or try to make right by Ms. Fluke and risk the fans leaving in protest.
