The GOP has always hated public schools because they teach children to think critically which prevents them from falling for GOP lies. This is a way to prevent that and increase the amount of Fascist indoctrination at the same time.

They have lots of reasons. For starters, they cost tax money. GOP ideology is that the Free Market can do anything better, even educate our children.

They also prefer private schooling because it helps to stabilize the class system. The rich will be able to afford the best schooling for their children while the poor will get the minimum education necessary to make them useful to the rich.
