Chrome on my Mac is becoming quite bloated. A couple of gigabytes just for a few tabs. I even go into the options and turn off all the experimental bells and whistles - which helps with speed - but it’s still a memory hog.

It is definitely a memory hog. I would switch, except for the fact that I am doing Google ad rating as a part time job. It is essential to clear the cache on a semi-regular basis, but I highly recommend doing as I did: download the latest version and replace what you are running now. The difference for me is night and day.
