As a veteran myself, I don’t know where people get the “brainwashed, mindless robot” bullshit when it comes to our troops. Maybe from CNN and that ilk. My peers were men and women of integrity, courage, and skill. However, as someone noted, the ACTIVE military oath does state that one will obey the “lawful orders” of one’s superior officers. I don’t see anything inherently wrong with renewing that oath, although these guys sound like a bunch of alarmists and worse. I DO like the idea of police taking an oath, even unofficially, to uphold the Constitution. I don’t know enough about law enforcement to know whether they take an oath already, but it IS certainly a good idea. Episodes in New Orleans jump to mind.
