(I thought I hadn’t had measles — that’s what my dear, deceased mother said — and had myself tested for immunity and found that I had after all. If you have any question about your immunity status, I STRONGLY suggest that you find out and get yourself vaccinated if you’re at risk, given the current thinness of our herd immunity. As they keep reminding us, measles is extremely contagious and very dangerous. )

What it boils down to is that a lot of people forget or never knew what it was like before vaccines, and think we can just stop vaccinating and everything will be fine - and/or they believe that THEY can skip vaccinating THEIR kids and let everyone else bear the burden of maintaining herd immunity.

Like libertarians want to live tax free in the society created by liberalism, antivaxxers want to live vaccine free in the society created by vaccines.
