I generally do stay away from those. But it’s hard to avoid, because people like gossiping about it.

Really, though, I think part of it is just being human rather than heartlessly trying to sell newspapers. After all, you don’t have any profit motive, but you’re still talking about how his wife must be feeling even though it’d probably embarrass her that you’re doing so. I think part of the problem of reporters is just the problems of ordinary people magnified by platform.

They are always trying to get the scoop before someone else does. Face it, dirty embarrassing stories sell. That’s why gossip magazines are so popular.
