Please note that McCain was civil because he was giving a speech from the Senate floor. He’d also be civil to Michelle Bachmann in person, if only because she is a woman. If John McCain or any of his children were ever to meet Frank Gaffney face-to-face however, their response to his bigotry would be unprintable.

You mean if only because she is a congressional colleague. Might want to rethink the phrasing here and the sex (identity) aspect.
