The notion that Mueller is somehow going to save you from Trump strikes me as somewhat naive in light of what we’ve seen so far.

Even if Mueller fully and incontrovertibly exposes Trump for the criminal money laundering Russian puppet that he is, nothing will happen, because of Congress, and the Supreme Court, and the millions of homegrown nazis supporting him. The rule of law, which was always perilously fragile in the US , will not apply to him.

At best, like Mugabe, Trump will be “retired” with honors by your oligarchs and sent back to Mar-a-lago to bask in glory and sink further into dementia, still convinced he was the greatest president ever and worshiped by millions of said nazis; while the rest of the kleptocracy goes on unimpeded. He’ll just have to anoint an heir (Ivanka?) for the 2020 campaign if his mind is already too far gone by then. Or he might swing a second term.

After that, it’s hard to predict what the long-term will be like… There is an ebb and flow in history, so I presume by 2030 things my look very different, but right now, I would expect things to get worse, not better.

Luckily, lots of people aren’t waiting for Mueller. That’s why Democrats are finally running for local offices, especially women. In a special election in Georgia yesterday, Democrats broke the Republican supermajority in the state Senate.
