Instead of watching the debate, I participated in an act of humanity.

There was a knock on the door, and the woman on the other side spoke very little English. I speak even less Chinese. Thanks to Google translate and a phone call to a friend, however, she was able to tell me that her car had run out of gas. We happen to have a tank, so off to the gas station and $5 later, she had enough gas that her car would start again. Hopefully she is off to get more right away.

I declined her offer of payment and wished her luck, as she’s apparently recently over to study English.
