I have fallen in love with this youtube channel. It’s called siwa (pronounced “shee-wah”), which means “wrinkles.” It’s meant to celebrate the wisdom of Japanese women who were born before WWII who share a bit about themselves while talking about the traditional foods that they cook for celebrations or other things—their wrinkles are badges of honor. This one is from the Sea of Japan side from a mountain village. The featured woman talks of how she goes to the mountains (yama no sat to collect its bounty while using their own farm-grown foods. I know that the subtitles are hard to read, but it’s just part of the feature.
