We should either have a test to qualify to vote, or we should (like some countries) make it a legal/constitutional requirement that everyone must vote, kind of like the jury service requirement.

Now, I’m not entirely sure that either one would be an improvement overall, and the first has obvious downsides, but at least the latter will reduce the influence of special interest groups since they would then have to preach to the unconverted to gain advantage.
