re: #228 Dr Lizardo

It’s Ancient Astronauts theory, in a nutshell. Creators of life.

Arthur C. Clarke hints at a similar theme in the book “2010”.

“They were farmers in a field of stars. They planted, they watched their crops grow, they tended; and sometimes, mercilessly, they had to weed.”

It’s not particularly plausible that seeding the Earth with DNA 4 billion years ago would result in the evolution from single celled organisms to animals that have “exactly the same DNA” (They actually made this claim in the flick) as they did.

So I’m not sure if makes more sense that they did this sacrifice 4 billion years ago, or if they did it a few million years ago and it only effected primate evolution. I put that part of my brain on vacation to just enjoy the movie, but it was hard.

And how did the Engineers themselves seem to have been unchanged over millions or billions of years? Stagnant culture?

I also don’t believe that they intended to commit genocide on us. I think that each time they visited Earth they manipulated our genome and/or culture. Bringing the “Black-Goo” to Earth might have been the way this was done, and in this case of 2000 years ago, it was decided to evolve Humans yet again to something else… as to what, perhaps it is what Charlie Holloway was turning into before Vickers torched him.
