re: #41 Targetpractice

Headed straight for my dad’s family. Gonna be some rather uncomfortable days going forward, waiting for news that everybody’s alright.

I’m here in Brookings, Oregon, and we’re getting warnings for the storm hitting the coast with gusts up to 60 MPH and 75 MPH tomorrow. Last night we were hammered with 60 MPH gusts so that was just the warm up act. One more front is supposed to move through after the one tomorrow but no word yet on the severity. Right now the ocean is roaring, drowning out the harbor buoy and foghorn. Our house is about two blocks from the southernmost bluff overlooking the Pacific, so the winds are expected to go right up our street. One of our cats, Stewie, just falls apart when shit hits the fan with our weather, so I’ll be babysitting that big boy. Our little boy, Morty, blithely ignores storms and even likes to watch them from our garage (when I have the door open). He’s a Snowshoe kitty and loves the water. :)

We feel for the guy who owns the house at the end of our street (it’s a T intersection at the north end) because his yard fills up with everything that flies down our street.
