Getting animals blessed on St Francis Day is an old thing. The protestand cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC has done circus elephants. (They also have/had a high-wire artist on staff.) Wife’s RC parish will bless everything that moves—they try to keep the tabbys and GSDs apart.

The issue is they were on the clock on the taxpayer dime, in uniform. That is a blatant government endorsement of religion.

FFRF is not suing, just reminding them of that (that’s all FFRF usually has to do with government entities).

I made a complaint a few months ago about the ID card office at FE Warren AFB in Cheyenne. They had a challenge coin rack on display (that’s allowed) made as a giant Christian cross (that’s not). I received notification about two weeks later that the rack had been changed to a normal rack.
