Clinton is currently playing a ‘prevent defense’ — i.e. the formation you see in the NFL when one team is up 21 points or more in the fourth quarter. Don’t make mistakes, hold a mirror up to when Trump goes over the line, and trust that the momentum of the election favors you.

That may suffice for the presidential election, although it’s not my first choice, but taking the Senate and making a play for control of the House will require more than that.

It’s time to throw the Republicans the heaviest possible anvil, by tying the down ticket candidates to Trump and making Trump more radioactive than he already is.

Edited to add: I expect that this will pretty much be how the Clinton campaign operates.
